The Al-Shifa Eye Trust currently operates 4 eye hospitals in Pakistan. The aim is to provide free eye treatment to as many of the 1.5 million blind people as possible.
A major emphasis is placed upon screening and other preventative measures to ensure new cases of blindness are reduced.
One new hospital, in the city of Quetta is planned to come into operation in 2011.
